Who Murdered the Maid is a film about modern day gender discrimination told in a bygone era, creating an absurd satire. In 1940s New York, Cassie Pelletier, a transgender maid was killed in a hotel lobby, leaving young detective Hardy to investigate with two singing suspects who do not take the case seriously; even Hardy’s boss is self-centred enough to burst into song. Who else cares about Cassie?

Cassie’s existence and death provokes people’s transphobia, causing them to show the actual thoughts regarding females, transgenders and sexual orientation, whereas Hardy acts as a moral centre of the society but is failed and defeated by human’s selfishness and ignorance.
